Give more than just stuff this holiday season. American Craft Council invites you to a FREE, festive event at Parallel Café + Events in Minneapolis where you can browse the work of over 70 Minnesota makers and pick out gifts packed with story and nuance. Bring the whole family to celebrate craft, commerce, and design and get into the holiday spirit through music, demos, food and drinks, and more.

Curated by ACC, Tricia Heuring of Public Functionary, Leslie Barlow of Studio 400, and Parallel, craft selections will range from ceramics, jewelry, fashion, and home goods to apothecary, candles, and letterpress cards. Guests of all ages will also be able to join in a number of hands-on experiences, including mini self-portrait making with with the Minnesota Children's Museum, a printmaking artist activation with Proof Public, tintype portraits with Zoey Melf, live glassblowing demonstrations with Hennepin Made, and more.

This year, my family is taking our first trip to Laos together to visit the country where my husband/father of my children was born and lived until the age of 8. We will be gone a portion of December and so I am moving the Sale into November in order to relieve pressure as I prepare for our big adventure.

I’m working hard to make a variety of handmade items for you and for gifts for your loved ones. This spring’s Jewelry & Accessory Makers Mart takes place on Free First Saturday, featuring free gallery admission all day and activities for kids and families (10 am–3 pm).

5-7pm: Exhibition Opening Reception for all three galleries at the Duluth Art Institute.

7pm: Tia will give an Artist Talk following the reception at 7pm speaking on the topic of cultivating and practicing creativity in the context of her life and work. 

100 DAYS Exhibition:  Tia Salmela Keobounpheng is a 2017 MN State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grantee. The grant has allowed her to equip her studio with a foundation of tools to incorporate her new metalsmith skills into her daily work. 100 Days is a day-by-day account of her metal explorations over the course of 100 days spanning August 7-November 14, 2017. At the end of each work day, she allowed herself an hour to explore creatively in metal. This candid window into her explorations illustrates both the linear and hap-hazard process of creative ideas; sometimes incremental steps of progress and other times big jumps back and forth between new ideas and refinement of earlier notions. Further, she shares how these ideas are cultivated and curated into a collection of finished work. The creative flow of working artists is often interrupted or impeded by practical tasks and the ongoing to-do list of entrepreneurship.  Salmela Keobounpheng’s commitment to a daily creative-flow practice reveals the impact of small actions accumulated over time – a viable practice for maintaining creativity amidst the realities of working as a professional artist.

That time of year again ... the 9th annual Silvercocoon Sale in Duluth! Second Saturday in December! 

Tia has had a banner year for creativity and plans to have a plethora of new jewelry and non-jewelry items for you. Art prints from her 100 Day Project (which has evolved into a 365 day project) and some goodies derived from the drawings and paintings. New acrylic and metal jewelry as well as the trusted Sale section packed with good deals. Mark your calendars!

The American Craft Council is pleased to partner with RSP Architects to open up the beautiful and historic Grain Belt brewhouse once again for this massive holiday craft sale. Shop more than 60 local makers of handmade textiles, wood, pottery, jewelry, and more. This grand selection of Minnesota artists has been co-curated by the Minnesota Jewelry Arts Guild and A Conspiracy of Strange Girls.

2nd Annual HOLIDAY Sale in Minneapolis at FLOCK. 

Tia has had a banner year for creativity and this is the event where she will launch a whole bunch of new designs! Art prints and other items derived from her 100 Day Project will be available along with new acrylic and metal jewelry designs. This is the only event in Minneapolis that will have a spread of this breadth. Mark your calendars!!

FLOCK is located in South Minneapolis just off Eat Street near MCAD and MIA.

The Annual Spring/Summer Sale in Duluth - held at the lovely Salmela Residence on the hill.

For any architecture enthusiasts, this is your chance to tour the home and office of David Salmela (Tia's Dad) -- he loves telling you about his latest projects! Light refreshments served.

It's the most wonderful time of the year ... the time when my parents' open their home to host me for the annual holiday sale. This year I will have a full spread of jewelry and other goodies, complete with a sale section and new silver-work!!
