thank you!
Silvercocoon was founded in the summer of 2001 with, what would now be called, a ‘pop-up sale’ of hand-made artist-wares in our 1966 Airstream camper in Duluth, MN. Our grassroots attempt at creating an alternative path to the retail marketplace came years before Etsy and the swift changes to direct/online selling we have all lived through since then. Our attempts to create a brand, in order to fit into the kind of corporate image that the public needed to take us seriously, have always been the front of a literal Ma & Pa/artisan approach to making work. Home-based, one piece at a time, made with our hands. We are ever grateful to the small group of individuals who have joined us in this process over the years on the jewelry, design/build, and now fine art realms.
After years of chasing the mirage that exponential growth is the only way, today this small business is purely self-sustaining. The jewelry component of Silvercocoon remains a one-woman operation. (I am the person processing every step of your order). I take great pride in making this wearable work for you - in tandem with - my full-time work as a fine artist. If you have questions along the way, please reach out. Thank you so much for your support!
